prophecy

So I’ve been reading about spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians - asking for revelation concerning what my gift(s) is (are)…asking for the gift of prophecy - the ability to encourage and uplift the body by the Holy Spirit speaking through me… asking for a pure heart.

I've been challenged so much this week just by witnessing the faith of others and realizing how much I push back from intimacy with the Lord - not cool. I've been using Israel as an excuse rather than as an example. They were a faithless people with a faithful God - and I am no different - yet they didn't listen or obey him when he called them - they chose their stubborn ways instead. Rather than learning from them and seeking the Lord, I've become accustomed to taking advantage of His grace towards me. Instead - I want to be evident that "His grace to me was not without effect (1Cor15:10)."

Tonight I was blessed to be able just to write and play with my brothers in the Lord. Austin was just playing and I picked up a marker and began writing on the board - it was just sweet to let it go and to speak (or write) truth - to be reminded of who the Lord is, of His heart towards us and towards the lost, broken and stubborn. Here it is - maybe it'll be encouraging.

Brooks
You go before us. You hem us in.
Your promises come to pass.
From the days of the prophets to the future to come, You alone will reign
Your will be done.

You fight for us, jealous in love.
Not militant in might but overflowing compassion
You are for us – not against us
Not by our own merit but by grace through simple faith

You’re calling us back to childhood. Freedom not religion
The dirty, the broken, the stubborn – You desire
More than a Husband longs for the feel of His Bride.

So we come begging mercy – You extend.
We come expecting life, freedom from bondage and heaviness.
You raise us up. You draw us into You. You are not far – You do not alter.
You are here pursuing. You are love.
We find our home in You alone.
We are at home in You alone.
